
Near Quantitative Recovery of Cells in 1/10th the Time
BioCapture develops and manufactures highly magnetic particles composed of a nickel core with a nickel oxide outer shell to which capture agents can be effectively coupled. The particles are more strongly magnetic than any other magnetic beads used for separation.
The particles can be produced in a range of diameters, from 50 nm to >3 microns. Particles of all sizes have a density of 8.9g/cc, which is 5X greater than that of most competing bead technologies.
This density enhances effective mixing and rapid magnetic separation in mixtures of varying viscosities such as fermentation feed stock, culture medium, whole blood or bone marrow. The wide range in size enables bioCapture to optimize the particle size for specific applications. The surfaces of the particles are highly irregular thereby increasing the effective surface area.
These solid nickel particles have very low non-specific binding of non-targeted cells leading to quantitative recoveries greater than 97% of either the negatively or positively selected cells.
